Synopsis
Two quarrelling brothers set out, upon a wish of their recently deceased father, on a journey to a place he chose as his last resting place. They get stuck just before they reach their destination in a cheap motel somewhere in a desert together with a barmaid, two neo-hippies and an angry middle-age man. Burning The Old Man is a bitter-sweet and very funny play about death, un pleasant family truths as well as about the passionate flame hidden in all of us that can be too easily extinguished.
In the United States The Burning Man Festival takes place every year. 70 000 participants meet in Nevada. Money cannot be used for payments, only barter. The event culminates when a giant wooden statue of a man is created, which is eventually burnt to ashes. The statue presents an altar. An altar where you can put anything you want to get out of your life forever.
